Hats have always had a mostly functional place in my wardrobe, serving a sun protection purpose more than a fashion one. But over time I've gotten exposure to cooler brands that make beautiful hats that can also stand on their own in an otherwise minimalist outfit. This one by Clyde is one part safari hat, one part classic lady hat, and one part breathable structured beach hat. The structured part is what I love and hate the most, since it's what gives it it's unique shape and also provides a packing challenge since it must be held on your person the entire flight, less you crush it and ruin it. Packing problems aside, this particular hate shape has been on my wardrobe wish list for quite some time, and in the search for it in the meantime, It seems that I have accumulated other shapes of straw hats in the process (as evidenced by this impressive/hoarderish stack on Instagram).
