If This (Into The Gloss), Then That (The File)

because you enjoy: Into The Gloss / Then you'll like: The File

Back in Into The Gloss' heydey, the Top Shelf interviews were unprecedented in their unpretentious access to some of the most admired beauty and fashion icons' daily routines. It was genius: find a woman almost universally stalked on the internet and have her walk you through her beauty products, her routine, and other tidbits. I, like many other women at the time, became obsessed with reading ITG. I'd wake up, make my coffee, and browse my favorite blogs for morning inspiration, which included ITG. But over time, I'm sorry to say I think luster wore off. While this opinion may not be winning me any more friends at Into The Gloss, I know I'm not alone in thinking their good thing has lost a bit of edge over the years. (Moreover, this is my personal blog. I ain't getting paid for anything here. That's what my full time job and freelance jobs are for.) The palpable shift in content that was once top notch and aspirational has felt haphazard and even solely tween-oriented at times, which ultimately left me wanting to fill the void that ITG once filled something comparable. (ITG gals, if you're reading, I still love you, just gimme a Top Shelf that's not an employee, swatches on an arm instead of a mouth, or a perfect teenager that swears by hand lotion on their perfect face as a failsafe beauty routine. OK? Kisses xoxo)

Enter, The File: a beauty blog born with an obvious nod to ITG (the indoor flash photography! the layout! the before ads cluttered the ITG layout!) but with a more consistent POV and more awesome content. Way harsh, Tai? No. Reality, Tai. You're a virgin who can't drive!

Anyway, The File even has the interviews with women I still admire and happily and like to read, which only serves to punctuate how much I missed my ITG routine. Also, they boast a roster of content that seems more aimed to my target market, which is the now above-30 crowd thank you very much.

So if you liked Into The Gloss, you'll love The File. Give 'em a try.
