Carla Fernandez + a brand new start
Welcome to the new twelveofour.com, which now lives on here on Square Space. The old blog is going to remain live on my old twelveofour.blogspot.com address, but any new stuff (and some old stuff) will go live here. The main driver behind this redesign? I wanted a beautiful and minimal approach to my blog moving forward. It's just that simple.
I chose to start my new blog with this feature on Carla Fernandez after I recently attended a hybrid shopping/art show at Heath Ceramics in San Francisco a couple weeks back. I was just absolutely inspired by Carla and her team's dedication to keep the Mexican traditions alive via thoughtful and smart handmade clothing and accessories. Her team has a passion for incorporating techniques from various regions in Mexico and reworking them into clothes that are completely wearable. In all honesty, Carla Fernandez's commitment to focus on the artistry first and foremost before any marketing was a real catalyst for me to do the same with my blog. Focus on what you love and tell an honest story: what's more beautiful than supporting that?
Carla's website is currently in the works, but if you're in the city you should head over to her show at Heath Ceramics in the Mission pronto. I dare you not to try on and fall in love with the craftsmanship and easy nonchalance of her supremely crafted, handmade pieces.
