What I Wore To New York On My Birthday
I just turned 30. Yay. It was no big deal, really. I spent a quiet evening with Nick in New York at a lovely Italian restaurant. My friends Ngan and Jon sent our table a bottle of Prosecco and I felt loved. I wore this outfit above and I felt like a real grown up with my own point of view on my personal style. The tweed Proenza Schouler runway top was a lucky sale find when I browsed Barneys the day their fall sale first started. It falls off the shoulder and has a giant self tie bow on the back. The fabric reminds me of an ornate tweed couch my mom used to have growing up, but the fit was entirely modern, unique, and designed. The skirt has made appearances on this blog many times which means I do not regret the $400 sale price I paid for it. It's by Yang Li and is also a sale find from a couple years back. It reminds me of those full skirts women wore in the '50s that were fitted at the waist. Overall the mix of modern and retro was what I was going for. Why are you not seeing photos of this outfit? Because I enjoyed my birthday evening (and weekend for that matter) sans camera for the blog. I'm sure I'll re-wear the entire scenario again here in SF, but until then this moodboard's all I got (and what feels like the flu!).
