It finally got me. It’s coming for us all I guess.
It turns out 2022 isn’t over yet with its malarky.
Goodbye, Pinterest. It’s just too bad everything has to be clickable and shoppable now. I’m just looking for inspiration, which you used to be pretty good at providing in an easy breezy endless croll kind of way. I didn’t even mind when it became 50% inspiration - 50% ads. Blah, I thought, I can endure this because the recommendations are still good. But now it’s more like 90% ads to 10% maybe inspiration. It’s really a sad thing to to know that eventually all good things get overpowered by the need to make more and more money.
Anyway, rant over. Adios Pinterest. I’m leaving you for Tumblr (hahaha) which appears to be the same weird and quiet place it ever was. I may remove the Pinterest tile on the top left of my website. Pinterest has gotten a little too good at shoveling ads in people’s faces that I’m not sure I want to promote that to anyone, even if it means chipping away at my my mediocre following there. I think humanity is pretty good at shopping already, especially during this time of year.
Just let me go to a website where I can scroll and have a good time.

We give ourselves our own manicures now as a meditative activity. It happens weekly and it’s a pretty calming process. During this time I tend not to think about dying via anaphylactic shock and what not, so that’s nice.
There’s whole process of prep and what not, which is not entirely interesting to write about unless you’re really into getting your nails done too. The important things to note is that the base coat is by Orly (and it’s a critical step if you want to hang on to your manicure for more than a few days), the color is Big Apple Red by OPI, and the top coat that makes it look like an expensive gel manicure is by Seche Vite*. Get yourself a bottle of Orly base coat and Seche Vite top coat and you too can have pretty nails for about a week.
I think in general the deep red is very holiday appropriate, matches the pull tabs on my favorite Patagonia mens jacket (why is their women’s stuff is so freaking fitted), and best of all compliments the melasma / rosacea around my mouth. Don’t you think?
*I tried the gel top coat and the regular bottle on separate occasions and they’re both equally spectacular. The gel effect one is a bit more viscous, and the non-gel effect top coat is more runny. Both provide an insane amount of shine.
Nickey Kehoe styling is just about my favorite store right now.
